The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a strong JAMB 2026 UTME registration warning, cautioning candidates against submitting false information during the ongoing registration process.
As the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration entered its third week after commencing on January 26, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede emphasized that any violation of registration guidelines could result in severe penalties.
JAMB Warns Against Registration Infractions
Speaking during a meeting with media executives, as disclosed in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, Oloyede described UTME registration infractions as serious offenses that will not be tolerated.
According to him, candidates found guilty of falsifying data could face:
- A ban from sitting the UTME for up to three years
- Publication of their names in national newspapers
- Reporting to other public examination bodies
- Investigation and possible prosecution by law enforcement agencies
He further revealed that offenders may be handed over to agencies such as:
- Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
- Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)
- Nigerian Police Force
Attestation Clause Now Mandatory in UTME Registration
The Registrar explained that candidates are now required to sign an attestation during UTME registration confirming that all submitted information and documents are truthful and accurate.
“Registration infraction is a serious offense,” Oloyede stated. “Any attempt to falsify data will attract appropriate sanctions.”
The attestation clause was introduced following previous legal disputes involving candidates. It now serves as a formal verification mechanism to ensure the authenticity of academic credentials and other personal information submitted during registration.

Although JAMB has not extended the registration timeline, candidates are advised to complete their registration early and comply fully with guidelines before the official JAMB UTME 2026 registration deadline.
Prospective candidates are encouraged to:
- Use only accredited CBT centers
- Provide accurate personal and academic details
- Carefully review all submitted information before final submission
- Avoid third-party agents who may alter their data
